This couple from Eugene took 2 days to find 24 and commented:

"Really enjoyed our time on the GeoTour. Spent a lot of time at each cache area. Spent over an hour at Proxy Falls and Belknap Hot Springs. Really opened our eyes to how much there is to do up the River. We’ll be visiting most of the places again."

    On McKenzie River

    Visit our Website

    July 12-14, 2013
    10 - 5 PM
    Friday, Saturday & Sunday

McKenzie River Lavender hosts a Lavender Festival on July 12-14 from 10am to 5pm.  The event is free to the public.  Everyone is invited to experience the intoxicating aroma and intense purple colors from the five lavender varieties planted beside the McKenzie River a few miles east of Walterville.  Listen to the hum of the bees and feel the fragrant flowers stroke your legs as you take a meditative walk through our lavender labyrinth.  Our specialty lavender products include fresh bouquets of lavender, essential oil and room freshener/linen spray, unique lavender crafts, soaps, lotions and more.  During the Festival lavender lemonade is available for tasting and lavender infused honey, shortbread cookies and Marion berry preserves will tempt your palate.

The Festival also includes a country bazaar that showcases the creations of many local artisans and a petting zoo to delight the children.  Relax by the McKenzie River while you sip lavender lemonade, listen to music, purchase lunch, or dine on your own picnic.

Learn about the planting and care of lavender and select from over ten lavender varieties for your own garden. To top the day off, take home a lavender bouquet that you picked yourself for only $5.

Enjoy the beauty and sweet aroma of lavender while you discover magic walking through the labyrinth within the lavender field

Taste lavender treats, shop for lavender products and cut-your-own lavender bouquet.

Shop the art and crafts bazaar of local artisans.

Children will love the petting zoo!

    McKenzie River Celebration

    Thursday, September 12
    6 PM

McKenzie Fire & Rescue Training Center, Leaburg

All McKenzie River residents and other interested persons are invited to join the Watershed Council at its annual gathering.

We will have an entertaining speaker and updates on recent accomplishments in fish and wildlife habitat restoration and field-based watershed education.

This will be a dinner event.

The council will provide the main entrée, and we ask attendees to bring their favorite side dish, salad or dessert.

Please join the council to celebrate this fantastic and unique watershed.

The McKenzie Watershed Council was formed in 1993 to help address watershed management issues in the McKenzie River watershed, as well as provide a framework for voluntary coordination and cooperation among key interests in the development and implementation of a watershed action plan.

The Council's vision is that through the McKenzie Watershed Council’s Conservation Strategy, the McKenzie River watershed supports exceptional water quality and habitats in balance with human livelihood and quality of life.

It is the mission of the Council to foster better stewardship of the McKenzie River watershed resources, deal with issues in advance of resource degradation, and ensure sustainable watershed health, functions and uses. The Council will accomplish its mission through fostering voluntary partnerships, collaboration and public awareness.

We work primarily with private landowners on a voluntary basis to conserve and restore riparian and aquatic habitat, cooperate with partners to monitor and maintain water quality, implement watershed education programs, focus outreach to residents and provide a monthly forum for addressing important issues.

Join Bob for a fun day of writing.

What: A one-day Writers Workshop in the McKenzie Valley led by founder/director Bob Welch. It’ll be a relaxing and inspiring day in which Welch will break down 10 keys that he uses undefined whether writing 675-word columns or 75,000-word books undefined to engage readers in his words.

Who: A maximum of 25 beginning and intermediate writers who want to write in ways that leave their readers moved in some sort of way. Your writing level is far less important than your desire to want to write better. This is about encouragement, about who you could be as a writer, not who you’re not.
